One evening Ibella was feeling poorly and appeared to have spasms in her abdomen, which was distended as though she was about to whelp. She didn't want to sit or lie down. We took her to the veterinary clinic where her spleen was found to be enlarged, and we were asked to return with her in the morning for tests.

Her condition remained the same through the night, but in the morning she looked much better and cheered up when she saw the car because she thought she was going out. At the clinic Dr. Noomanova examined her and carried out blood tests and an ultrasound scan. She agreed that her spleen was enlarged, but the scan was inconclusive because of the abdominal distension. However,  x-rays and blood tests showed that Ibella was suffering from torsion of her spleen and she was admitted for surgery.

I was left with my horrible thoughts . . . Thank God Petr was with me . . .

That evening Dr. Noomanova phoned to say that the operation had gone smoothly and Ibella had recovered well from the anaesthetic. Two days later she was back home and her body learning to manage without a spleen. She was on antibiotics, a special diet and complete rest. She is now recovering well and we hope she'll soon be back to normal.

A big thank you to Dr. Noomanova, who took care of Ibella, to Dr. Dokic, who operated on her, to the veterinary assistant Veronika, who was so kind to us. Special thanks to Petr, who was at my side throughout. I can highly  recommend the
